Remembering Flash

  1. I am so sorry to hear about Flash. Whitney Rupp sent me your blog about Flash. It is so sad to hear all of what Flash and you went through this last week. Flash is pain free now and having fun running those agility courses with friends.
It is so hard to loose our best friends and even harder to loose them at such a young age. Such great things Flash and you have accomplised over the years.
My thoughts are with you on your loss.

My heart breaks for you. I'm just so sorry for your loss. Flash was a tremendous little dog and the two of you made such a great team. We are all going to miss watching the two of you play agility.

  5. We were so sorry to hear about the tragic and sudden loss of Flash. The first time I saw you as a team was at my first USDAA show in Lake Geneva, WI, in the fall of 2006. I so admired the relationship you had with your dogs both in and outside of the ring. We will be thinking of you during this difficult time.

  6. Pam and Sue, My heart aches for both of you. Losing a loved one early is never easy. The bond that you all had with this remarkable dog was very evident. Watching the two of you on the course was a always a learning experience for us in our sport. May Flash continue to teach us all many lessons in the years ahead. We will miss you sweet puppy.

  8. Pam and Sue,

I wish I could say something to make it better. I am so sad for you! Pam, you and Flash were an inspiration to alot of us in the agility world and we will never forget your sweet girl. I know what you are going through, I lost a very special dog at 4 from kidney failure and I know it's never easy but it's different when it's not supposed to happen this way. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Very Special Friends
    (Jim Evans, 1995)

As I step across that threshold
to the next life by and by
And deaths door shuts tight behind me
and my mind’s still questioning why
I’ll pause while my eyes adjust
and my feet test strange new ground
    And my ears strain hopefully
    for some familiar sound

Then up ahead I see them all
    those that have gone before
    My family, friends, and schoolmates
    and many, many more
And as they stand all smiling
    a small group breaks away
And rushes ahead to greet me
    in their old familiar way

A more welcomed sight than angels
    tho angels they may be
And I reach out and touch them
    and each one touches me
And I recognize each voice, each face
old friends from days gone by
And those fond memories flood my mind
    and overflow my eyes

But the joy is so contagious
and their voices like a song
    All apprehension fades away
    I’m content to go along
Who is this loving, joyous throng
    that now escorts me home?
    They’re very, very special friends-
they’re all the dogs I’ve owned

There are no words to express our feelings on the news of Flash's sudden passing. She was a wonderful little girl. Tag and I were huge fans of our fellow "baby dog" team. It was a pleasure watching Pam and Flash run, she had such a love of life, she seemed to always be laughing. You are in our thoughts and our prayers at this most difficult time.

Paul and I are so sorry to hear about Flash. We had been praying for her recovery. It is never easy to say goodbye - but so unfair at only 5 1/2. We will always remember how much fun you had running together. Thanks for so many wonderful memories! Paul and Donna Darland & The collies

  14. Pam,

I am so sorry. I got to see you and Flash run at the Invitationals and she seemed like such a cool little girl.

Many people know what you are going through-my heart aches for you. I hope with the passage of time your pain will be eased by the many good memories you had with her.

    Godspeed Flash.

  16. I have never met you and have only seen you run via the webcast from the Invitationals, yet I am sooo sadden by the lost of your dear friend. I have lost a dog suddenly, known others that lost their dogs suddenly and WAY TOO young. It is gutwrenching. I love the poem that Tammi Stone quotes. It really says it all. May you find comfort in the dog community to help you through your loss. In time her memories will comfort you. God speed, Flash. Til you meet again.

  18. Dear Pam,
Thank you for opening this blog so that we could all know what had happened and how best to let you know that we love and support you. I know that you did not want us to call, because then you would have to talk and I can only imagine how devastated you are. Flash was a great dog, and I know that you have a special bond with your girls (and Neo). This was too fast, and too soon, and too sad. I just wanted you to know we love you very, very much and are sorry for your pain.
    With hugs and tears,
    Meghan and family

  20. My deepest sympathy goes out to you. I had the pleasure to see your friend run at invitational in the very Flashy style.

A little girl was asked after her dog died, are you okay. Yes, she said, God sends dogs to earth to teach us to love and when their job is done, he takes them home. Joan and the shelties and Aussie

We are heartbroken to hear about the loss of your friend. Her free spirit, avid t.v. watching, and fishing will certainly never be forgotten.
We wish there were words to help bring you some comfort and peace but fear there just aren't any. Flash obviously made the most of every moment that she had. Just look at all the people she impacted. Amazing.

  24. I am terribly sad and shocked to hear of the loss of such a sweet young dog. I remember watching her grow up at Dearlove and her early trials. She was as charming as she was talented. We will all miss her.

  26. We just heard about Flash and wanted to tell you how sorry we are. We loved watching Flash in the ring and following her career. Although we are no longer competing in agility we think of all the great people and dogs we met and you and Flash are certainly among the top of that list. Flash was loved and amired and will be remembered by more people then you probably realize.

  28. I was stunned when I heard the news last night. Our (Susan and myself) immediate reaction was to burst into tears - very hard to believe that little Flash is gone. Our hearts go out to you - we've spent time remembering her and can clearly see her as a puppy at a seminar we shared years ago. She was in life and is still a truly bright spirit; all of us who knew her are better for having had that priveledge.

  29. Pam, I am so very sorry for your loss of a terrific little BC. It is quite a shock. It sucks to lose them when they are old and when they are young. Memories are all we are left with... sit with your eyes closed and remember holding her and the smell of her fur and her cute ways and her tongue on your cheek... I don't know if the hole left in your heart will ever be filled, it's so hard when you love them so much.
My heat goes out to you.

  30. Pam and Sue, I am so sorry for your loss. Pam 'n Flash , what a team to see...your expertise and your bond, I know you learned so much from her(and you thought you were teaching her)..and your generosity in sharing what you have learned with others.Thoughts and prayers with you.

  31. Over the years, I have watched you run first with Thunder and then with Flash. You could pick Flash out of the crowd with her face so full of expression - expression that mainly said "let's get going - what's next". There is no easy way to say good bye and it seems so much harder when there is no preparation. All we can do is to know that no matter what, we have done the very best for our team mates. We have accomplished more with some team members than with others, but no matter how many members we have over the years, each is unique and each leaves their mark on our hearts and minds. Just remember all that you learned from Flash - things that you will take with you forever, this you will never loose. Time will heal, but for now, known that your agility family is there for you if needed.

  34. Pam & Sue,
I can not express how sorry I am to hear the tragic news. Flash was a wonderful little dog, that just kicked butt in agility. I love to watch Pam and her just click on course and tear it up. She will be missed greatly by all of us,but never, never forgotten.
It was a pleasure to have met her, competed against her, and given her a fun pat on the head. What I will miss most... those darn rocks that she just couldnt seem to get in the bottom of those baby pools:) that was a fun sight to see. You hog all those baby pools in heaven little Flash. Sleep well.

    Sincerely,
